The map shows a detailed categorisation of land cover showing contrasts between the different regions in the Arctic. Extensive areas of 'Snow and ice' in Greenland are visible as well as extensive areas of 'Spare herbaceous' in parts of northern Canada and Russia, and in general a wide variety of 'Tree' categories (9 in total, see legend) in all regions.
