The map shows a concentration of employment in high-tech manufacturing and R&D in natural science & engineering (size of circles show total number of employees in these sectors) in the commuting catchment areas around the largest urban centres of the Nordic Countries. When it comes to intensity (high-tech and R&D employed persons as a share of employed persons) there are two secondary urban centres, Linköping and Oulu, registering the highest percentages, followed in a second level by Stockholm, Helsinki, Copenhagen, Gothenburg, Malmö, Tampere and Turku.
