The map shows the regional entrepreneurship and development combined index (abbreviated REDI) in 2013, produced for the EU countries. This map includes the EU countries of the Baltic Sea Region. High values in the index (darker red and orange) means high entrepreneurship intensity.
All five Danish regions have the highest values (above 60). In Sweden, also the three major metropolitan areas have the highest values, as well as densely populated East Middle Sweden (i.e. the Lake Mälaren Valley) and sparsely populated Upper Sweden. Middle Norrland and Småland and the islands, both in Sweden, are the only Nordic regions in the index with fairly low values (40-50). In Finland, only the capital region is above the highest threshold. In Finland, however, all other regions are “just behind” the top class, all scoring between 50 and 60 in the index.
