Not surprisingly, the highest GDP per capita (dark green regions), highlighting the productivity of the labour force, is found in the Nordic and Central European capital metropolitan areas. The east-west divide is evident. Regarding the latter, some unsurprising exceptions here are the larger urban agglomerations.
