The large map shows the share of bankruptcies per 1000 persons in working age (15-64 years) at regional level across the Nordic Region in 2014 (background colours), as well as the absolute number of bankruptcies (blue bars). The highest share of bankruptcies per persons in working age were found in Icelandic regions, the capital regions of Sweden, Denmark and Norway, as well as several regions in southern Norway.
The map in the bottom right corner shows the annual average change of bankruptcies from the first year of the global financial crisis (2007) up to 2014. The increase in bankruptcies is most pronounced in Denmark and the Faroe Islands, as well as in several southern regions of Norway – on the negative side of the Nordic average at 4.9% (brown hues). Iceland, Sweden and Finland have a more balanced situation, with many regions which saw a moderate average increase in bankruptcies during this period, below the Nordic average (green) or close to the Nordic average (yellow). A few regions in Iceland, Sweden and Finland even experienced a decrease in bankruptcies, i.e. an annual average change below 0% (dark green).
