Young age-dependency ratio is a measure of the age structure of the population. They relate the number of "dependent" individuals – youths in this case– to the number of those individuals who are capable of providing such support. In general the young age dependency rate is highest in Westnorden and Pohjanmaa (FI) while the rate is lowest in regions with a high population decrease (Eastern Finland) and a number of small municipalities.
