The map shows higher shares of population under 15 years (more than 24% and indicated with dark green colours) in a number of Russians regions as well as in Nunavut (Canada) contrasting with shares under 20% (indicated with light green colours) in the Nordic regions, Murmansk (Russia) and Nunavik (Canada). The proportion of the population in the 0 to 15 year age group is an important consideration for future demands on both education opportunities and on the provision of skills and knowledge needed for future development in the North. The demands will be not only on offering high-quality skills training, but also on quantity of education and training required.
