Taken as a group, Nordic capitals and larger city regions saw the highest increase in population over the last ten years. In the core cities the increase was over 10% during the period 2002-2012 and even in the agglomerations the increase was 8% and 10% respectively. Other cities experienced some increase in their populations whereas in the non-urban areas the population decrease was partly substantial.
