There were, on average, 27.9 people aged 65 and above for every 100 people aged between 15 and 64 in the Nordic region in 2013. This represents something of a significant increase as the ratio was only 24 people in 2002. The proportion is relatively high in most of the regions of Finland and Sweden with, respectively, ratios of 27.7 and 29.2 in 2012.
