This map shows demographic vulnerability in Nordic-Baltic municipalities based on the indicator crude death rate. Under this indicator, municipalities are deemed to be vulnerable when the crude death rate is higher than 13.9 percent. With the exception of some municipalities in Northern Sweden and Eastern Finland, the majority of municipalities in Nordic countries have crude death rates below this threshold. . For Baltic countries, most municipalities have crude death rates above this threshold.
Crude death rate is one of 10 indicators used to measure demographic vulnerability in the Nordic-Baltic Region. The map “Nordic-Baltic Demographic Vulnerabilities”, takes in all 10 indicators to provide an overall picture of demographic vulnerabilities at the municipal level.
