This map shows demographic vulnerability in Nordic-Baltic regions based on the indicator age group 55-64 years. Under this indicator, regions are deemed to be vulnerable when the percentage of the population aged 55-65 years is more than 13.15%. In the majority of regions in Norway and Sweden the share of the population in this age group falls below this threshold. Regions with the largest shares of their populations aged 55-64 years can be found in Denmark, the Baltic countries and Finland, with particularly large shares found in Eastern Finland.
Age group 55-64 years is one of 10 indicators used to measure demographic vulnerability in the Nordic-Baltic Region. The map “Nordic-Baltic Demographic Vulnerabilities”, takes in all 10 indicators to provide an overall picture of demographic vulnerabilities at the regional level.
