Most of the regions in Denmark, Finland and Sweden have an elderly population share above the Nordic average while most of Norway as well as the West Nordic region have an elderly population share below the Nordic average. The elderly population share has increased by 2.8% on average, across the Nordic region, during the period 2008-2013. The most significant increases took place in regions surrounding capital cities, in South-West Finland, most parts of Denmark, Iceland, Greenland and the Faroe Islands.
